DRAGAAN PRINCESS is now on Kindle
I’M
CLOSING THIS CHAPTER – CHECK KINDLE
If
you want to write a review on Kindle or Amazon, I would like that even if you
didn’t mark five stars. This story tells
about a period in our history. You may
not be interested in the 1930s, ‘40’s, ‘50s.
On the other hand you might enjoy my style of reality writing. Either way, I’m glad you spent a bit of your
time in my world.
For
now, I’m putting my first two books and my web site to one side. www.taswos.com is
not the same format as two months ago.
GoDaddy made some changes, I had to adjust and lost my published stories. It took trial and error for this slow-poke to
present my Books, Blogs and Life in a short paced manner. Go look at it for further information.
NEXT
CHAPTER
I’m
looking for stories to augment what I’ve found so far. Does anyone remember 1986 and Phoenix College
followed by ASU and marriage? Were you
around when he began teaching at Royal Palm in 1971? Every anecdote helps to tell about Fred as
a person instead of just showing dates.
Write me a note and let’s talk about Fred Cheshire.

HOORAY
-------- success --------
The
idea started small. What could we do for
Fred? We said, “Please don’t send
flowers to the Service – We want something lasting.”
Nancy
came up with a suggestion. “Fred didn’t
finish the teaching that he loved. Let’s
do it for him.” Next
came phone calls and talking it out.
Yes, it can be done. It takes
$10,000.00 to set up an endowed Scholarship – the kind that keeps growing and
stays around forever. Who’s got a spare
10 g’s in their pocket?
We
found out -- Friends and students and caretakers and family and teachers and
people from the past and people who care about him now.
WE GOT A
NICE SURPRISE
IT TOOK FOUR
MONTHS TO MEET OUR INITIAL GOAL
Fred’s work will continue!
DR. FREd CHESHIRE SCHOLARSHIP
Glendale
College Students needing English language Tutoring
Our
Anonymous Donor kept up with all of the contributions and matched until we
reached our goal.
This
adds up to a stew-pot mixture of wonderful love for Fred.
----IMPORTANT----
Every
contributor receives a notice from Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation that
your contribution is income-tax deductible.
You should also have a personal letter signed by Mariam and Magaly to
say ‘thank you’ and enclosing “My Story for the Service.” If you have not received this, please let me
know at: MIMAR102@cox.net.
----NEXT STEP----
The dollars*
(see below) that are donated from now until March 16, 2018 will go directly for
a Fall 2018 Scholarship. After that
donations will go back into the seed money for growing and awarding. Sister Nancy insisted that we have the first
Scholarship this year due to my 90 year old age. She wants to be sure that I’m around to give
the first Award to one of Dr. Fred’s students.
THERE’S NOTHING I
CAN’T DO
Fred’s
biography is progressing. After leaving
the Rio Grande Valley, we are in Phoenix and Fred enrolled in Phoenix College.
Anyone with anecdotes of those days please get in touch with me. I’ve already found out that a mother misses a
lot.

Hello Everybody
I got a review on my new book – I’m not sure if it’s good
or bad – but here it is anyway.
“Lifes and Loves of Myrt-ty-ty-Ky-Ly, Dragaan Princess.”
Today it would be called "reality" and could be
printed on the front page of the newspaper. In the 50's it was hidden, Louey
couldn't talk about being raped, not even to her family.
Louey invented a friend, Myrt-ty-Ky-Ly, the Dragaan Princess, so she had someone to call for help. The author goes back and forth -- first a chapter on Myrt-ty and then a chapter on Louey. They both grow up together. The author admits that Louey's life is based on the treatment she had when she was young. It begins with the way it was in the 1930's and a lack of money, then the 1940's with the war heroes returning, and in the 1950's the treatment of women in the workplace and the result of drugs.
Myrt-ty's dragaan life seems just as real as Louey's life. Her family might be next door, especially GrandMyrt, who has the same bossiness that my grandma did. Growing up she fights the rules. Why can't she do what boy dragaans do? Then I can't begin to explain about her love life -- it seems rather powerful in the dragaan society.
When I heard that Mariam had published a new book, I hoped it would be a sequel to Sanctuary. (The Alternate Safe World of Sanctuary). Although both are 'what-if' books, in Myrt-ty-Ky-Ly she presents more to mull over. One such chapter is when Myrt-ty walks in someone else's shoes. Also, is Louey substituting a Dragaan Princess for God?
As I write this review I'm reading Myrt-ty for the second time and more slowly to understand what I missed the first time. I definitely give it five stars and recommend it to everyone except children.

Available on Amazon now and will have it available on Kindle
shortly. I’m waiting for answers on how
to change the format. First chapter can
be read on: www.taswos.com
“There’s Nothing I Can’t Do.” Fred’s biography, is up to 20,000
words and he is now in college. I’ll
either have to cut a lot or make this a book of three volumes. Sigh.
I’m waiting for further stories from people who knew him.
Hugs and blessings to all, Mariam

THREE ANNOUNCEMENTS
THREE ANNOUNCEMENTS
“Lifes and Loves of Myrt-ty-ty-Ky-Ly Dragaan Princess”
is now available on Amazon.
. ***Not a children’s book.***
After
two and a half years MYRT-TY-KY-LY now glides into our world and discloses her
friendship with Lu-e. The pushy
yellow-haired fem broke into her Memory Cave in the red mud hills of
Virginia. Myrt-ty had to return to her
first Life. She asked Grand-myrt “Why am
I stuck with her training.”
Young
Louey in the depression years of the 1930s, wanting answers, chased the golden
Dragaan in a leaking rowboat on James River only to hear “When you’re older.”
Or-Vry,
the copper-skaled prince, upset Myrt-ty’s goals with a mist of light flame
surrounding her in deliciousness. Did he
refer to the Veil of Mating? Or the Veil
of Time? The sinking of Atlantis might
have been his error.
After
the war years of the 1940s Louey made the most important decision of her life
and accepted the consequences.
Orders came for the
Draks to transfer to other star systems.
Louey called for help after a debasing wrong. Would Myrt-ty leave her tyke or Lu-e?
Fact or Fiction? Both the good and the bad shown for Louey are based on my personal experience. Some stories have been enhanced, some have been limited. The description of the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s would be fact.
Myrt-ty-Ky-Ly’s part? I sat at the keyboard and words appeared on paper. Myrt-ty wrote her own story and you will need to ask her if it is Fact or Fiction.

THERE'S NOTHING I CAN'T DO
There’s Nothing I Can’t Do
I
have written and rewritten this. Now I throw that away and type it like it is.
Sad
words: It might have been.
Misery: It shouldn’t have happened.
Tear
out a heart: I have lost my child.
The
Memorial Service for my son, Fred Duane Cheshire, took place on September 30th
at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Glendale.
If I had not been numbed, I would have considered it a beautiful
Service.

Pastor Peter, a
friend of Fred’s, spoke loud and clear. He
called Fred “a Bridge Builder.” He said: “Fred looked around and saw gaps that needed
bridging. . . . computer know-how . . . social activities . . . language skills
. . . tutoring . . . cultural togetherness . . . citizenship . . . He brought
people together with what interested them and excited them and he shared those
passions.”
Dan, as one of his
caretakers, gave us stories that came about due to Fred’s needs as a
quadriplegic. Fred pushed the envelope
and Dan rescued him in ways that sounded funny when told after the disaster was
over.
I kept my tears away
long enough to tell about Fred’s life growing up: his eagerness to learn about everything
including rocks, stamps, chess, science fiction, Spanish and people. He earned his degrees from Phoenix College
and A.S.U., married Sue and took to teaching like a duck to water at Royal Palm
Jr. High.
To our way of
thinking, his death should not have happened.
A routine sinus procedure to help him breath better and all appeared
to be O.K. Suddenly the paddles were
called for.
One-two-three-four-five-six-seven and his heart began beating once
more. The doctor said it was not a heart
attack.
I had been strolling
around St. Louis ready to take off on a seven day boat trip on the Cumberland
River to Nashville. When I called the
hospital to check on the results of his procedure, the nurse said, “If he were
my son, I would be on the next plane home.”
When I came in early
the next morning, Fred opened his blue eyes and knew I was there. That was the last time I would have
communication with my kid. From December
22, 1945, when someone plopped a 5 pound scrawny, red, wrinkled, crying baby in
my waiting arms until that fatal date of September 9, 2017 adds up to 26,194
days or 71 years, 8 months, 18 days. I
thank you, God, for every hour of that special merry-go-round loving time.
Many people stayed
around after the Service to tell me how Fred had impacted their life: Citizenship stories, foreign students with tutoring
help, a young woman who had scuba-dived with him, and a lady who had been in
Fred’s 8th grade and remembered when he walked, taking giant steps
across the room, always eager to reach his goal.
I have much to do
now. Messages await. Where we have addresses from the email and
the beautiful cards and the signed Guest book, we want to keep in touch. Magaly, his special Magy, and I want to thank the people who have donated to the Scholarship fund.
My second book -- “The
Lifes and Loves of MYRT-TY-KY-LY, Dragaan Princess” -- will be published
this month on Amazon. I begin to tell
Fred’s story when “GranMyrt placed a safety net around the baby heart of Fritz.“
(not a children’s story)
Next: I will begin, “There’s Nothing I Can’t Do,
the Biography of Fred Duane Heiny Cheshire.” In the back of my closet I
found three golden files with Fred’s early letters, newspaper stories about his
accident and even a rough draft of a book started back in 1977. I will be looking for people who participated
in Fred’s life and ask for their stories.
Don’t be concerned with sentence structure or commas, just write to: MIMAR102@COX.NET.
Top-top priority will
be the growth of Fred’s Endowment Scholarship fund at Glendale Community
College. We celebrate Fred’s life with
that which he loved best -- helping his students over a bump in the road,
helping his students when lack of English held them back.
